Chococat Bento Box

Bento 01/12/09

My first bento of 2009. Left Top: Dried cranberries, roasted almonds, and chocolate almonds. Left Bottom: Boiled egg with carrot flowers, surrounded by broccoli. Right Side: Cheese flowers on a salad of lettuce, carrots, cucumber, and chickpeas.

I used my new Chococat bento box which I purchased for $8.95 from a Sanrio store in Florida. I was excited to see a Sanrio store there, since the one in the mall near my house closed down a few years ago (in Maryland). I also scored a Chococat bolster pillow! Anyway, here are some photos of the box...it comes with a tiny fork and spoon, and has a locking top just like my beloved Lock & Lock containers.

I really like the carrots in the egg... do you just push them into it, or do you have to cut out part of the egg to get the carrots to stay?

Thanks, BlueFrogJ and Danielle! I use a small cookie cutter to cut the shape from the egg, then use the same cutter on a slice of carrot. Usually I try to make the carrot thin enough so it will sink into the hole in the egg (to give an inlay effect), but this time I was in a hurry and some of the carrots are sticking out too far. Oh, well!

The new box is just lovely. I thought that I would celebrate the new year by coming out of my lurking to leave a comment.
