Lots of Orange

Bento 10/17/08

Looks like orange overload. This was for my husband. Left: Three chicken shu mai from Trader Joe's, rice, and broccoli. Right: Orange segments, carrot slices, and salad dressing for dipping the carrots. The panda has spicy ginger sauce for the shu mai and broccoli.

Great use of the broccoli stems. They are such an interesting shape when sliced like that.

Wow the broccoli stems look so bright and cool! Are they blanched?

Thanks for the comments! The carrots are raw, but the broccoli is blanched. I like to cut up and blanch a big batch (2 or 3 heads of broc) and then keep it in the fridge to use as needed (in bentos, salads, casseroles, stirfry, etc). I use a Rubbermaid Produce Saver container which helps keep the blanched broccoli crisp and fresh.
