TJ's Taquitos
This was a pretty fast lunch to throw together, because the taquitos came from the freezer. I microwaved them for 30 seconds, then sliced them.
Left: Black bean taquitos from Trader Joe's. Salsa in the little oval container that I saved from a Ralph's deli purchase. I put the lid on the oval container before transporting this lunch. Right: Homemade quick cucumber pickles, broccoli, muenster cheese rolls and carrots.

this looks too yummy
Can you give a tutorial on how to do all of the cutting? I am sure it is more simple than I think, but my little boy would flip his lid if he opened a bento with shaped food.
Thanks, Mimi! Hi, Jenzoe - my cutting is too simple; I just use mini cookie cutters to make shapes. One tip I can share is that when using cookie cutters on something hard like a carrot or apple, I use the back of a wooden spoon to press the cookie cutter into the food (I can put my whole weight on the spoon to help cut through the food.) For some real tutorials, I recommend visiting Lunch In a Box. And there is an illustrator named Maky who has been posting really cute illustrated tutorials on Flickr and her blog, Zenzero e Cannella.
